CGCMG held a consortium meeting on February 4 with partner institutions—the Institute for Policy Studies (USA), Waseda University (Japan), and Tilburg University (the Netherlands)—as part of the jointly conducted research project titled “The Rise of the Climate State: Analysing Socio-legal Transformations in the Anthropocene.” The partners shared recent decarbonisation developments in their respective countries and discussed the project’s progress and future steps.

As part of the project activities in 2025, the Korean team, led by Professor Suh-Yong Chung and Professor E.W. (Michiel) Stapper of Tilburg University, conducted interviews with approximately 25 specialists across various climate change sectors in Korea. The interviewees included Kwon Min, Head of the Climate and Environment Headquarters of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and Seo Wangjin, Floor Leader of the Rebuilding Korea Party.

Moreover, CGCMG co-hosted the 93rd CSDLAP Monthly Seminar with Tilburg University. During the seminar, Professor Michiel Stapper delivered a lecture to graduate students titled “Green Deals and Industrial Policy in the EU, Japan and Korea.”
